Tallahassee is the perfect blend of southern charm and modern convenience, making it a perfect spot for a wedding. Nestled in the heart of North Florida, Tallahassee is known for its rich history and young energy, and offers a tapestry of stunning wedding venues that cater to a wide range of interests.
Today I’m sharing six of the most romantic, picturesque spots in our area, each with its own unique vibe. Whether you envision exchanging vows under ancient oaks or within the sleek lines of a modern space, Tallahassee has something special to offer every couple ready to tie the knot. Here are 6 picture-perfect spots and hidden gems that this beautiful city has to offer to kick off your search for the perfect wedding venue.
FSU ALUMNI CENTER: Let’s start with tradition! This iconic event space celebrates the proud legacy of Florida State University while offering an amazing setting for your wedding day. The center’s rich history and architecture create an ambiance that’s steeped in tradition and grandeur. From the meticulously kept interiors to the lush landscapes and manicured gardens, the venue provides a picturesque backdrop for your wedding with five unique event spaces, state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, and in-house catering.
The outdoor spaces offer an upscale setting for daytime ceremonies or cocktail hours in the evening. For FSU alumni, this venue holds a special significance, allowing couples to celebrate their union in a place that holds cherished memories.
SHILOH FARM: Looking for something a little more rustic? Shiloh Farm sits on a 65-acres of Southern charm. The Grand ‘Ol Barn can accommodate up to 300 guests and boasts wooden floors, A/C and heat, an eclectic mix of tables and chairs, and sparkly chandeliers. The big doors open out onto a large patio and outdoor area perfect for a bonfire in cooler temperatures or fun cocktail hour.
If you’re looking to get married on the property, the beautiful chapel at Shiloh dates back to the mid-1800s and can seat up to almost 200 guests. Outdoor ceremonies under the large oaks are also popular at Shiloh.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the serene atmosphere at Shiloh Farms creates a sense of calm and serenity, setting the stage for a perfect wedding ceremony and reception, all in one place.
LEWISWOOD FARM: We can’t mention barn weddings without also mentioning Lewiswood Barn. This beautiful barn is set on a tree farm and natural wildlife habitat. It is another beautiful venue set in a country setting with lots of room to spread out.
The large climate controlled barn has tons of space for any type of event and opens out onto a 1200 sq. ft. brick patio so you can enjoy both an indoor and outdoor event. It also boasts a lovely bridal suite, a kitchen for catering prep, and a huge bonfire area. John and Debra Lewis built and care for this meticulous venue and will help show you around when you call.
THE RETREAT AT BRADLEY’S: Oak trees, Spanish moss, wrap-around porches, lake front views… The Retreat at Bradley’s is everything you could ever want in a wedding venue! To start, the pergola facing Bradley’s pond makes for a picture-perfect ceremony spot. Your guests will love the sprawling landscape during cocktail hour while they sip on their favorite beverage and enjoy the sunset from the wrap-around porch.
Inside, the huge open space accommodates up to about 170 and still leaves room for dancing, a bar, or lounge areas. The venue comes complete with table and chair rentals and a large fireplace. Caterers love the well-appointed kitchens and easy access. You’ll feel like you’re on vacation, away from the city, on this tranquil, quiet property that you’ll have all to yourself.
BRICKS AND BRASS: Bricks and Brass is one of Tallahassee’s few venues with a modern, industrial vibe. With its brick walls and polished concrete floors, the space is pretty much a blank slate, allowing you to add your own colors and aesthetic to make it your own. The split-level floor plan offers a built in bar and lounge areas for you to use in a variety of ways.
Just outside the reception area, is a large patio that’s perfect for a ceremony or cocktail hour. With its turf green patterned design and wide-open space, it’s the perfect backdrop for a simple, modern wedding.
MISSION SAN LUIS: One of Tallahassee’s most unique wedding venues! Mission San Luis is a National Historic Museum that will transport you back in time to the 1600’s when it was a Spanish Franciscan Mission in the principal villages of the Apalachee Native Americans.
The Portal Paseo is directly behind the museum. Nestled under the grand oaks, you can take your wedding vows at this wonderful entrance to the historic site.
The elegant Mission Room banquet hall is 4,000 enclosed square feet, with a 3,000 square foot outdoor courtyard. It can accommodate 250 guests. Vaulted ceilings, Spanish architecture, and iron chandeliers make this a unique experience for weddings guests. Truly an escape from the outside world!
BONUS – HAVANA SPRINGS: While this venue is technically not in Tallahassee, it’s so close and we know you’re going to want to tour this gorgeous resort! Havana Springs Wedding & Event Venue is nestled on a breathtaking 50 acre retreat for couples looking for a venue that offers a little bit of everything! Steeped in Florida history conveniently located only 12 miles from Tallahassee, Havana Springs offers 13 boutique guest rooms as well as a 3300 square-foot event space. The venue offers tables and chairs, in-house catering, and bartending services. For your outdoor ceremony, you can choose a tree ceremony under the giant oaks, an intimate ceremony facing the white gazebo, or a classic look in front of their new chapel.
Among the completely refurbished guest suites you’ll find the most gorgeous bridal suite with plenty of room for you and your wedding party to get ready for the big day. The groom and his guys can hang out and get ready on-site as well, in their own space. Best of all, family and friends can stay after the reception in one of the 13 boutique-styled guest suites on the property.
